Alright, let’s talk about Yaoshi in Honkai Star Rail. The Aeon of Abundance, right?

When I first started playing, I kinda glanced over the whole Aeon thing. Just background lore, I figured. Saw Yaoshi mentioned, the one spreading immortality and life, sounded kinda nice, maybe a bit boring compared to Destruction or Hunt.
Then the game got tougher. My characters started getting slapped around hard in places like the Memory of Chaos. Suddenly, staying alive wasn’t just nice, it was necessary. That’s when I started paying more attention to Abundance characters.
I think I pulled Bailu first. Stuck her in the team. Okay, yeah, fewer deaths. Things got more stable. Then Luocha came along. Heard he was broken, so I went for him. Managed to get him, thankfully. Started pouring resources into him – leveling, traces, finding decent relics which was a pain as always.
Putting Abundance to the Test
So I rebuilt my main team around Luocha. Suddenly, everyone was always topped up on health. His field effect healing was crazy convenient. I could auto-battle stuff I used to struggle with. Felt good for a while.
But then I hit walls again. Yeah, my team wasn’t dying. Like, ever. But some bosses, especially those with damage checks or timers? It was slow going. Really slow. Felt like I was just chipping away forever. Survivability was top-notch, but the damage just wasn’t always there if the rest of the team couldn’t pick up the slack.

Simulated Universe was where the Abundance path really clicked for me, though. Specifically running the Path of Abundance itself. Picked up all those blessings that boost healing, make healing do damage, spread it around. It got ridiculous. My healer was basically keeping everyone immortal AND contributing damage. Felt like cheating, honestly. That showed me the potential when you really lean into Yaoshi’s whole deal.
Connecting Gameplay to Lore
Thinking about it, it kinda matches Yaoshi’s lore, doesn’t it? This endless life, this regeneration. Sounds great on paper. But in the story, it causes huge problems – Mara-Struck soldiers, planets overgrown and stagnant. It’s life without limit, becoming a curse.
In gameplay, pure Abundance felt a bit like that sometimes. You survive everything, but if you can’t actually finish the fight, what’s the point? You’re just… there. Existing. Endlessly healing against an enemy you can’t kill fast enough.
- Survival: Amazing. Top tier.
- Speed: Often lacking unless you have hyper-carry damage dealers.
- Simulated Universe: Path of Abundance is super strong, almost required for some high difficulty runs early on.
So, after really focusing on it for a while, messing with different Abundance characters like Luocha and Lynx, my final thought? Yaoshi’s gift is powerful, no doubt. Having a good Abundance character makes the game way more comfortable. They save your butt constantly.
But you can’t just rely on staying alive. It’s a core part, especially for hard stuff, but it’s not everything. Gotta have that balance. Need the damage dealers to actually make use of all that survivability. Abundance keeps the team running; it doesn’t win the race on its own, most of the time. That was my experience digging into the whole Yaoshi side of things.
