Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and today I finally got around to it. I’m a huge wrestling fan, and one of my absolute favorite wrestlers right now is Will Ospreay. The guy is just insane in the ring, puts on a show every single time. So, I decided to make a list of what I think are his best matches.
First, I started by going through all the usual places where I watch wrestling. I checked out some old pay-per-views, dug through some indie promotions, you know, the whole nine yards. I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I grabbed a notebook and started jotting down the matches that really stood out to me.
- Will Ospreay vs. Shingo Takagi at the Best of the Super Juniors final in 2019. This one was a no-brainer. Ospreay and Takagi, they just have this crazy chemistry. I remember watching it live and being on the edge of my seat the entire time. Takagi was undefeated, and the match was just brutal and beautiful at the same time.
- Then there’s the match against The Amazing Red at the Super J Cup 2019. This one was special because Red was a big inspiration for Ospreay. You could see the respect between them, and the match itself was just a spectacle. High-flying, fast-paced, it was everything I love about pro wrestling.
I also looked up some lists online, just to see what other people were saying. I found some rankings and compared them to my own notes. I didn’t want to just copy what everyone else was saying. I wanted this to be my personal take. Some matches got mentioned a lot like this one from Best of the Super Juniors final. Shingo Takagi had gone undefeated in the Best of the Super Juniors XXVI. Or that one against The Amazing Red at the Super J Cup 2019.
I also remembered a more recent match, at a RevPro event. Ospreay was bleeding, got slammed into the ring steps and turnbuckle, it was rough. He lost, but it was still an amazing performance. This was supposed to be one of his last matches with the promotion before he joined AEW, so it was a big deal. I actually got a little emotional watching it, not gonna lie. It was against Michael Oku at High Stakes.
So, after watching, researching, and reminiscing, I finally put together my list. It wasn’t easy, there were so many great matches to choose from. But I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a good mix of big-stage showdowns and more personal, emotional bouts. If you’re a fan of Will Ospreay, or just a fan of great wrestling, I think you’ll appreciate it. And hey, if you think I missed any, let me know! I’m always up for a good wrestling debate.
