Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Osaro Ighodaro. Don’t know him from Adam, but I heard some folks talking, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know.
So, this Osaro, they call him Oso too, I guess. Sounds like one of them fancy names to me. Anyway, he’s a basketball player, you know, one of them tall fellas who run around and throw a ball into a hoop. He plays for the Phoenix Suns now. Big team, I reckon, lots of folks watchin’ ’em.
Born way back in 2002, July 14th to be exact. Just a young’un, barely out of diapers, it seems. Born in Mesa, Arizona, but grew up in Chandler. Went to Desert Vista High School. Sounds like a hot place, all that desert and all. Probably needed a lot of water, that boy did.
- Early Life: Grew up in Arizona, played basketball in high school. Averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, and a couple of them blocks. Folks say he was a good player, even back then. Got offers from all sorts of fancy colleges, Stanford and Texas and such.
- College Years: Ended up going to Marquette. Played for them Golden Eagles. Had a bit of a rough start, got hurt and had to sit out a year. But he came back strong, played in all the games his second year. Averaged a few points a game, not too shabby, I guess.
- Pro Career: Now he’s in the NBA, playing for the Suns. Got drafted by Portland first, but ended up in Phoenix. Folks say he’s a center. Big fella, gotta be, to play that position. He’s 6’11”, they say. That’s taller than my barn, I swear!
Now, this fella, he wasn’t just born with a silver spoon in his mouth. They say he’s a first-generation college graduate. Means his folks probably didn’t go to college, had to work hard for everything. Came to America in 1985 on a basketball scholarship. That’s a long time ago, way before these fancy phones and such. Played for Northern Arizona University, then went off to Europe to play some more. Sounds like he’s been bouncing that ball all his life.
They say he was a four-star recruit, whatever that means. Sounds important though, like he was a real good player in high school. Committed to Marquette over all them other fancy colleges. Must’ve liked them Golden Eagles, I guess.
And wouldn’t you know it, ESPN, that fancy sports channel, even has a page about him. Says he’s a center, played for Marquette, tells you all sorts of things. Height, weight, age, all that jazz. They even got his stats, whatever them are. How many points he scored, how many balls he grabbed, all that stuff. Folks are really interested in this young man, ain’t they?
This Oso fella, he’s a power forward too, they say. I don’t know much about basketball positions, but it sounds important. He’s 22 years old, still young, got a long career ahead of him, if he stays healthy. And he’s 6’11”, can’t forget that. That’s mighty tall.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about Osaro Ighodaro. Just a young fella who plays basketball, plays it real good, it seems. Came from nothin’, worked hard, and now he’s playing in the NBA. That’s the American dream, ain’t it? Work hard and you can achieve anything. Even if it’s just throwing a ball in a hoop for a living.
Osaro Ighodaro, remember that name. You might be hearing it a lot more in the future. He’s a Phoenix Sun, a former Marquette Golden Eagle, and a boy who chased his dreams all the way from Arizona to the NBA. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got chores to do. This talkin’ about basketball has made me tired. And thirsty. Maybe I’ll get myself a nice glass of lemonade. Yeah, that sounds good. You go on now, and don’t forget what I told you about this Osaro fella. He’s one to watch, that’s for sure.
