Okay, so, today I decided to dig into what’s in the bag of Matthieu Pavon, that French golfer who’s been making some noise lately. I mean, the guy just won the Farmers Insurance Open, so I figured it’s worth checking out what gear he’s using.
First off, I started with a quick search online to see what I could find about Pavon. Turns out, he’s not just some random dude. He’s been on the DP World Tour for a while and finally bagged his first win at the Open De Espana in 2023. Not bad, right? Then, he goes and wins on the PGA Tour, the first French guy to do so since like, forever ago.
So, I focused on his gear. I started looking at different websites, trying to piece together what he was using at the Wells Fargo Championship. It seemed like a good starting point since it was recent.
The first thing I noticed was his driver. He’s got a PING G430 Max. That makes sense because it is said to be a really good driver for all skill level. I saw a lot of chatter about it online, it is a pretty popular driver. So, I dug a little deeper and found some specs: it’s a 9-degree driver with a Fujikura Ventus TR Black 6 X shaft. I’m not gonna pretend I know everything about shafts, but it sounds pretty fancy, and probably costs a good chunk of change.
Then I moved on to his other clubs. Unfortunately, that’s where things got a bit fuzzy. Some sites had bits and pieces of information, but nothing super concrete. There wasn’t a full, detailed list of everything in his bag, which was a bummer. I guess that information is a bit harder to find. I saw that he used other PING clubs, but not sure about which models. I will do more research in the future.
But hey, at least I got a good look at his driver. And knowing that he’s using a PING G430 Max gives me a good starting point. Plus, it’s cool to see what a pro like Pavon is using, especially after he just won a big tournament. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more details on his full setup. Maybe he’ll share it himself sometime, who knows?
Anyway, that’s my little investigation for today. It wasn’t perfect, but I learned a few things and got a better idea of what Matthieu Pavon is working with. And who knows, maybe this will inspire me to try out that PING driver sometime. I mean, if it’s good enough for a PGA Tour winner, it’s gotta be worth a shot, right?
