Okay, so today I found myself wondering about the head-to-head record between Jelena Ostapenko and Victoria Azarenka. You know, you see them play, you hear commentary, but sometimes you just want the straight facts on who’s gotten the better of who over the years. It popped into my head, and I figured, why not look it up?

First thing I did was grab my laptop. Opened it up, waited for it to boot. Then I launched my usual web browser. Nothing special there. Went straight to the search engine I normally use.
Typed in something pretty straightforward, like ‘ostapenko vs azarenka h2h’. Didn’t bother with fancy keywords or anything. Just the names and ‘h2h’. Hit the enter key and waited for the results to pop up.
Sifting Through the Results
Got back a whole page of links, as expected. Some were news articles talking about their most recent match, others were maybe forum discussions. I tend to skim past those initially. I was looking for a site that specializes in tennis stats, something reliable for just the match history.
I scanned down the page. Recognized a couple of the usual sports statistics website names. Picked one that looked promising, one I’ve used before sometimes. Clicked on it.
The page loaded up. Had to navigate a bit, sometimes these sites have sections for players, rankings, and then the head-to-head comparisons. Found the section where you can compare two players directly.

Typed in ‘Ostapenko’ in one box, ‘Azarenka’ in the other. Hit the ‘compare’ or ‘search’ button on the site itself.
Getting the Actual Data
And there it was. The page refreshed, showing their head-to-head record. It listed out the matches they’ve played against each other.
What I Looked At
- The overall win-loss count between them. That’s the main number, right?
- When the matches happened. Were they recent, or mostly years ago?
- What tournaments they played in. Grand Slams, Masters events, smaller ones?
- The surfaces. Were the wins mostly on clay, hard courts, or grass? That tells a story sometimes.
- The scores of the matches, just to see if they were close contests or blowouts.
It wasn’t a super deep dive, didn’t spend ages analyzing every point. Just wanted to get a feel for their history. Took maybe 5-10 minutes tops. It’s always interesting to see the raw data after just hearing opinions or recalling matches vaguely.
So yeah, that was my process. Just a quick search, a few clicks, and I got the info I was curious about. Satisfied my need to know for the day. It’s good context for whenever they play next.
