Well, let me tell you somethin’ about them Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks. They been goin’ at it for a good long while, you know? Football, that’s what they play. It’s like a big ol’ fight, but with a ball.
Washington vs. Oregon: A Real Old-Timey Fight
These two teams, they got history. Started way back in 1900, can you believe it? Them Ducks, they whooped the Huskies good that first time, 43-0. Can you imagine? Must’ve been somethin’ to see. Folks say that was the beginnin’ of this whole thing, this…what do they call it? A rivalry! Yeah, that’s it.
Now, the Huskies, they mostly been winnin’ over the years. I heard tell they won somethin’ like 63 games, and the Ducks, they got about 48. A few ties in there too, back when they didn’t know how to settle things proper, I guess. It’s been a real back-and-forth sometimes, though. Like that time in 2023, they played TWICE! Huskies won the first one at home, close game, 36-33. Then they met again in Las Vegas for the championship, and the Huskies won again! 34-31! My, oh my, those must’ve been some nail-biters.
The Games, the Scores, and All That Jazz
I seen some folks talkin’ ’bout scores and dates and such. They keep track of all that, you know. Like in 2024, the Ducks, they beat the Huskies pretty bad, 49-21. Happens sometimes. But the year before, the Huskies had the Ducks’ number. They play every year, see? Big games, lots of hollerin’ and cheerin’. Sometimes they play in Seattle, that’s where the Huskies live. Other times they go down to Eugene, where them Ducks hang out. And sometimes, like I said, they go to a fancy place like Las Vegas to fight for the championship.
- Big Wins and Big Losses: Like any fight, you got your winners and losers. The Huskies, they had some big wins, and so did the Ducks. I heard tell of one game where the Ducks beat the Huskies so bad, it was somethin’ awful. But then the Huskies, they turn around and do the same thing to the Ducks another year. That’s what makes it excitin’, I reckon.
- Championships and Such: Them Huskies, they even won a national championship back in 1991! Went undefeated, that’s what they did. Shared it with some other team, Miami, I think. But still, that’s somethin’ to brag about, ain’t it? And both these teams, they always fightin’ for that conference championship too. Big deal, that is.
- Players and Coaches: I ain’t gonna name no names, ’cause I can’t remember half of ’em. But there’s been some good players on both sides, I tell ya. Tough boys, runnin’ and hittin’ and throwin’ that ball. And the coaches, they get paid a whole lotta money to figure out how to win these games. It’s a whole thing, let me tell you.
The Rivalry Today and Tomorrow
Now, they sayin’ both these teams are gonna be in somethin’ called the Big Ten. Sounds like a lot of teams to me. But I guess that means this rivalry is gonna keep on goin’. Folks get all worked up about it. They wear their colors, paint their faces, and yell their lungs out. It’s somethin’ to see, even if you don’t know a lick about football. Makes for good TV too, when I can figure out how to turn the darn thing on.
Some fancy fella’ said somethin’ about it. He played for the Ducks. Said it’s a strong rivalry and been going on for a century and even though the teams moved to another “conference” the rivalry will carry on. He seems to know what he is talkin about, but I don’t know these big words he use. I just know, it’s a good ol’ fashioned fight, every year, and that’s all there is to it.
So, there you have it. A little somethin’ about them Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks. A good ol’ fashioned rivalry, been goin’ on for years and years. And I reckon it’ll keep on goin’ for years to come. ‘Cause that’s just how it is with football, you know? It gets in your blood.
