Okay, so, I was messing around with “MLB The Show 24” the other day, right? And I got to thinking, “Can you actually demand a trade in this game?” I mean, you see players do it in real life all the time, so why not in a video game?
So, I jumped into the “Road to the Show” mode. This is where you create your own player and try to make it to the big leagues. I figured this was the most likely place to find a trade demand option. I created my player, a power-hitting shortstop, because, you know, who doesn’t love a good shortstop.
I started playing through the minor leagues, mashing home runs, making some sweet defensive plays. You know, the usual. I was basically carrying my team, and winning a bunch of games. My player was getting better and better, raking in those sweet, sweet stat points. But even though I was tearing it up, I wasn’t happy. I wanted to play for a contender, a team where I could get a chance to win it all. This team was just not that.
So, I started digging through the menus, looking for that elusive “demand trade” button. I checked the player interactions, the agent options, everything. I even tried messing with some of my player’s interactions like turning off user account controls or deleting some files to see if it would trigger anything. Nope, nothing. It was like the game was ignoring me, like it didn’t even care that I wanted out.
Then, I remembered something. In previous versions of the game, you could only request a trade at certain points in the season. So I simulated a few weeks ahead, thinking maybe that would unlock the option. Still nothing. I simulated some more, all the way to the end of the season. I even tried to set up a gateway between two CAN buses, sending messages like crazy. It was all a mess, and nothing happened!
Finally, I realized it. You can’t actually demand a trade in “MLB The Show 24.” At least not in “Road to the Show.” It’s a bummer, I know. I was really hoping to force my way onto a better team, maybe even create my own custom dream team like building trust among us to achieve the goal, and recreate those classic trade scenarios you see in the news.
- You can create and customize your team in other modes, but not your player’s team in Road to the Show.
- You can view all teams and their rosters, but you can’t just pick one and jump ship.
- It seems like the game wants you to stick it out with the team that drafted you, at least for a while.
- The team can trade you but you can not request a trade from the team.
What I found:
So, there you have it. My quest to demand a trade in “MLB The Show 24” was a failure. But hey, at least I got to hit a bunch of dingers along the way. Maybe they’ll add the feature in a future update, but for now, we’re stuck with the teams we’ve got. And maybe that’s not so bad. It just means we gotta work a little harder to turn our teams into winners, right?
