Well now, ain’t it a sad thing when we lose someone who’s been around for so long, and people had gotten used to seein’ him? That’s what happened with poor Lawson Holland. He was a man who’d been through his fair share of ups and downs, but he sure made an impact on the folks who knew him. Lawson passed away on August 25th, 2023, down in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Now, he was 70 years old, and you know, life ain’t always kind to folks when they get on in years. He’d been in poor health for a while, but I reckon he went peacefully in his own home, and that’s somethin’ to be thankful for in a way. Ain’t nobody wants to die alone or in some hospital bed. But at least Lawson, he had the comfort of his own place to pass away from this world.
Now, Lawson wasn’t just anybody. He was born all the way back on September 29th, 1952, in a little town called Mooresville. That’s out there in North Carolina, for them that don’t know. It’s a quiet place, not much happens, but folks there remember him well. He spent a lot of years in Mooresville, growin’ up, workin’, and livin’ his life just like any other good country boy would. But things changed as the years went on. Some folks move away to make a life for themselves, and that’s exactly what Lawson did. He ended up down in Myrtle Beach, where he spent his final years. You know, it ain’t too bad down there—hot sun, ocean breezes, and a slower pace of life. But it was a hard road for him the last few years, what with his health keepin’ him down.
Lawson wasn’t one to go talkin’ too much about his troubles. He was the sort who kept to himself, didn’t make a fuss. Some folks say he had a real quiet nature about him, never one to make a scene or draw attention. You might not know him right off, but once you spoke with him, you’d find that he had a heart of gold. He’d help folks out when they needed it, but he didn’t like to make a big show of it. He just did what he thought was right, and that’s somethin’ you can’t say about every fella out there.
He leaves behind family and friends, and you can bet they’ll all miss him somethin’ fierce. His folks, them who loved him, they’ll carry on, remembering him for the good man he was. They say he had a way of makin’ people feel comfortable, like they weren’t strangers, no matter where they came from. I reckon that’s a real gift, when you can make someone feel at home like that.
But life keeps goin’, don’t it? People come and go, and we keep on truckin’, even when it feels like our hearts got a hole in ‘em. That’s what Lawson did—he just kept on goin’. He didn’t make no big fuss about it, but he lived his life the way he thought was best. And when his time came, he went in peace. We should all be so lucky, huh?
There ain’t much more to say, except that Lawson Holland was one of those folks who left a mark, even if it wasn’t in lights or on the front page of the paper. He was a quiet man, but he sure did leave behind a lot of love and memories. So here’s to Lawson, and to all the folks like him, who live simple lives but make a big difference to those around ‘em. Rest easy, Lawson. You’ll be missed more than you might ever know.
