Alright, so today I decided to dig up my old baseball card collection. I was a huge fan of Derek Jeter back in the day, and I was sure I had some of his cards stashed away.
The Hunt Begins
First, I headed up to the attic. It’s a mess up there, boxes everywhere filled with who-knows-what. I started sifting through them, one by one. Mostly old school stuff, some forgotten toys, and a ton of dust bunnies. After about an hour of searching, I found a couple of boxes labeled “Sports Memorabilia.” Bingo!
The Dig
I carried the boxes downstairs to the living room, where I had more space to spread out. I popped open the first box, and it was mostly football cards. Not what I was looking for. But the second box…that was the jackpot!
I started pulling out stacks of baseball cards, carefully checking each one. I found a few common Jeter cards, nothing too exciting. But then, I spotted it – a 1993 Upper Deck SP Derek Jeter rookie card! I remember buying this pack of cards when I was a kid, and I never thought I’d actually find a valuable one, but it looked pristine! I could have jumped up and down and screamed but was in my 40s now.
Protect and Serve
I knew I had to protect this card. I carefully placed it in a plastic sleeve and then into a hard-top loader. No way was I going to let this thing get bent or damaged.
- Carefully examining the card’s condition.
- Looking for any creases, bends, or imperfections on the front and the back.
- Checking the edges and the centering.
I did some rough estimate, and it seems like could be worth a good amount! Whether I decide to sell it is another question. For now, it’s going back into the box, safe and sound. This little trip down memory lane turned out to be pretty exciting!
