Okay, so I got sucked into this rabbit hole today about Tina Lurie’s disappearance. I’ve been meaning to look into some cold cases, and this one just popped up, and well, down I went.

First, I started with the basics. Just a simple search, you know? Typed in “Tina Lurie disappearance” and boom, a bunch of articles and forum posts came up.
I skimmed through a few news articles to get the gist. It’s a pretty old case, so a lot of the initial reports were scanned images or summaries on true crime websites. The details are super fuzzy, so I figured the best place to start would be a timeline.
I opened up a Google Doc and started jotting down dates and key events. I find it way easier to keep things straight if I can see it all laid out chronologically.
Building a Timeline
- Date of Disappearance: This was the most important, obviously. Getting that nailed down was the first step.
- Last Known Location: Where was she last seen? Who saw her? That sort of thing.
- Any Reported Sightings: Were there any leads or potential sightings after she disappeared?
- Initial Police Investigation: What did the police do initially? Who did they talk to?
- Later Developments: Were there any new leads, suspects, or theories that popped up over the years?
I spent a good chunk of time cross-referencing information between different websites. Some sites had slightly different details, so I tried to find the most consistent information. I mostly stuck to news sources, or at least sites that cited news sources, because forums can get…wild.
I copied and pasted relevant snippets from articles into my document, making sure to note where I got each piece of information. Just so I could go back and check if I needed to.

After a couple of hours, I had a pretty decent timeline. It wasn’t perfect, there were still gaps, but it was a good starting point. It gave me a much clearer picture of what happened, or at least, what was publicly known about what happened.
Next, I moved on to looking at some of the theories surrounding the case. There are a lot of them, and some are definitely more plausible than others. I created separate sections in my document for each theory and summarized the main points.
Honestly, it’s a really sad and frustrating case. There’s just so little concrete information. It feels like it could have been solved with a bit more evidence or a few lucky breaks. I think, that I could do more research at later day.
That’s pretty much where I left it for today. It’s a work in progress, and I’ll probably keep digging into it when I have more time.
