Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with the Sunpoint Plasma Drill in Warframe.
So, I’d heard about this thing, the Sunpoint Plasma Drill, supposed to be great for mining. I was still using the basic cutter, and, man, was it slow. I figured it was time for an upgrade. I started by heading over to Fortuna, because that’s where you get all the Solaris United gear.
I checked my standing with Solaris United. You need to be rank “Trusted” to be allowed to buy *, I’d been doing enough bounties for Eudico that I was already there. If you’re not, just grind those Fortuna bounties. It’s a bit of a slog, but hey, that’s Warframe, right?

Using the Drill
Okay, so I equipped the drill in my gear wheel. Pretty standard * I headed out to the Orb Vallis, ready to put this thing to the test.
Finding ore veins is the same as with the old cutter. Look for those glowing spots on * drill makes this high-pitched whining sound, and the closer you get to a vein, the more intense the sound * is like a game of hot and cold.
- I aimed the drill at the vein.
- I held down the fire button.A little reticle appeared with a blue outline.
- I tried to keep the reticle on the sweet spots, those little white markers that show * closer you stay on those, the more resources you get.
- I released the fire button when it’s done.
And boom, I got my ore and gems. Honestly, it’s so much faster and more efficient than the basic cutter. The range is better, too, so I didn’t have to be right on top of the vein.
I spent a good hour just zooming around, mining everything I could find. It was actually…fun? Mining? Fun? Who knew! I even managed to snag some rare gems that I’d never gotten before.
