Okay, so today I wanted to check out the Wyoming football depth chart. Been meaning to do it for a while, you know, just see who’s lining up where these days.

First thing, I just hopped online. Typed it straight into the search bar, nothing fancy. You get a few results right off the bat, usually the official athletics site is the best bet, but sometimes fan forums or sports news sites have their own versions. I usually stick to the official one first, figure it’s the most, well, official.
Pulled it up. Took a minute to load, sometimes those PDFs or pages can be slow. Then I just started scrolling through it. You know how these things are laid out, offense, defense, special teams. Quarterback is always the first place I look, see who’s QB1, QB2. Then I check out the running backs and receivers.
Found myself looking at the offensive line too. Always curious about the big guys up front. Then flipped over to the defensive side. Linebackers, defensive backs, the whole crew. It’s interesting seeing the names, especially the starters and the immediate backups.
Checking Out the New Guys
Sometimes I see a name I don’t recognize, maybe a freshman or a transfer. I got curious about one of the younger guys listed, think he was on defense. So, I did another quick search, just his name and “Wyoming football”.
- Wanted to see where he came from.
- Like, was he highly recruited? Sometimes you see those star ratings, like maybe a three-star guy or something.
- Checked if he redshirted last year, stuff like that. Found some basic info from his signing day profile. It’s kinda cool to see the pipeline of players coming in.
Spent maybe 15-20 minutes just clicking around, looking at the different positions and reading a bit about some of the players. It’s not like I’m a coach or anything, just a fan trying to keep up.

It reminds me of trying to follow teams back before the internet was everywhere. Man, that was tough. You’d have to wait for the newspaper the day after the game, and even then, you only got the basics. Depth charts? Forget about it unless you bought a pre-season magazine, and even that was outdated by week two. I remember taping games on VHS just to re-watch plays and figure out who was who. Kids today have it easy with all this info right at their fingertips. Still, kinda fun digging through the chart myself, feels a bit more involved.
Anyway, that was my little project for the afternoon. Got a better sense of the roster now. We’ll see how they actually line up when the season gets going.
