So, I’ve been hyped for this Canelo vs. Munguia fight for a while now. It’s on May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas, and I knew I had to watch it somehow. I’m not made of money, so flying to Vegas was not an option.
First thing I did was check out the PPV options. Turns out, it’s streaming on both Amazon Prime Video PPV and DAZN. I already have Amazon Prime, so that seemed like an easy route, but then I saw that DAZN was offering a free month with the purchase of the fight. I started doing some calculations in my head, trying to figure out the cheapest way.
Then I started looking into the fighters’ earnings. Apparently, Munguia was getting a guaranteed $10 million for this fight. Wow! That’s a huge jump from his previous fights. Makes sense, though, going up against a big name like Canelo. It’s a career-defining fight for Munguia, for sure.
After going back and forth, I realized the cheapest option was probably just to buy it straight up through my DISH network. I found out you can order it for $89.99 by remote on channels 454-530. That sounds easier than signing up for another streaming service that I may not need again.
I even stumbled across some info about the actual tickets to the fight. It was tempting to dream about going to see it live, but those prices were way out of my league. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to afford that kind of thing.
Anyway, I decided to take the easy route and order it through DISH. I grabbed my remote, browsed those channels until I found the fight, and then pressed the button to buy. It was done, I set a reminder on my phone to remember the time of the fight, got some snacks ready, and invited a friend over to watch it with me. Now I just have to wait for May 4th!
It was kind of fun digging into all this info. It made me even more excited for the fight. Now I know a little bit more about the business side of boxing and how much money is involved. It’s pretty crazy. I’m just glad I figured out a way to watch it without breaking the bank.
