Alright guys, so today I wanted to figure out something that’s been bugging me for a while – how long is halftime in an NBA game? I mean, I watch games all the time, but I never really timed it. So, I decided to do just that.

My Little Experiment
First, I grabbed my phone and opened the stopwatch app. Simple enough, right?
Then, I waited for a game to start. I flipped on the TV, and luckily, there was a game just about to tip-off. Perfect!
I watched the first half, enjoying the game, of course. As soon as the buzzer sounded for the end of the second quarter, I hit the start button on my stopwatch.
- Started the timer at the end of the 2nd quarter.
- Sat back and watched the halftime clock.
During halftime,I observed those usual stuff, some analysis, highlights, maybe a few commercials. I made a note to pay attention. I resisted the urge to check my phone for anything else.
Finally, the teams came back onto the court, ready for the third quarter. I immediately stopped the timer.

The Big Reveal!
And guess what? My stopwatch showed around 15 minutes. It was pretty much bang on what I expected but not exactly. I did find online that most people also said 15min,it confirmed my experiment’s result!
So, there you have it! A simple little experiment, but now I know for sure. NBA halftime is roughly 15 minutes. It’s not rocket science, but hey, it’s good to know, right?
