Okay, so I was in the mood for a good laugh and some action, and I remembered watching “Here Comes the Boom” a while back. That movie was hilarious, and Kevin James kicking butt as an MMA fighter was just awesome. I was thinking, “I need more movies like this in my life.” So I decided to find some movies similar to “Here Comes the Boom.”
First, I grabbed my laptop and fired up the old internet machine. I started with a simple Google search. I typed in something like, “movies similar to Here Comes the Boom.” I scrolled through the results, and there were a few suggestions, but nothing that really grabbed my attention. They were mostly just generic action comedies, and I was looking for something more specific—like, underdog sports movies with a comedic twist, you know?
Then I thought, “Why not check out some movie forums?” I headed over to Reddit, specifically the r/moviesuggestions subreddit. I posted a question asking for recommendations, and I made sure to mention that I loved the mix of comedy and MMA in “Here Comes the Boom.” The folks there are pretty knowledgeable, so I figured they’d have some good ideas. One that caught my eye was “Warrior,” which is apparently more serious than “Here Comes the Boom” but still involves MMA fighting.

- Warrior (2011) – Several people mentioned this one. It’s about two estranged brothers who enter the same MMA tournament. It is apparently a drama one. Sounds intense!
- Goon (2011) – This one’s a hockey movie, but it’s got that underdog sports vibe that I was looking for. Plus, it’s supposed to be really funny, so I’m in.
- The Wrestler (2008) – A bit older, but it’s about a washed-up pro wrestler trying to make a comeback. It is said that this one is kind of depressing, but in a good way. I’ll give it a shot.
- Fighting with My Family (2019) – This one is about a family of wrestlers, and it is based on a true story. Looks good.
I also spent some time browsing through Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. I used their search filters to narrow down the results by genre and keywords like “sports” and “comedy.” I added a bunch of movies to my watchlists on both platforms. I figure I’ll watch the trailers later and decide which ones I’m actually in the mood for.
So yeah, that’s how I ended up with a whole list of movies to watch. I started with a simple Google search, then branched out to forums and movie databases, and finally combed through streaming services. It took a bit of time and effort, but I think I found some real gems. Now I just need to grab some popcorn, kick back, and enjoy the show!
