Okay, so, a few weeks ago, I set this crazy goal for myself – 1000 basketball points. Yeah, I know, it sounds like a lot, but I was determined to make it happen. I’m not a pro or anything, just a regular guy who likes to shoot some hoops after work and on weekends.
I started by making a plan. I figured I needed to score around 20 points a day, 5 days a week, to reach my goal in about 10 weeks. I grabbed my old basketball, the one with the worn-out grip, and headed to the local park. There’s this court there, usually pretty empty, which was perfect for me.
Week 1-3
The first few days were rough. My shots were all over the place, and I was huffing and puffing after just a few minutes. But I kept at it. I practiced my free throws, layups, and three-pointers. Slowly but surely, I started to see some improvement. My shots were becoming more consistent, and I wasn’t getting tired as quickly.
- Day 1: 12 points. I felt beat up after the training.
- Day 7: 18 points. Way better, but I know I can still improve a lot.
- Day 14: 25 points. Getting the hang of it! Feeling more confident.
- Day 21: 22 points. A little down, but it’s part of the process.
Week 4-7
By the fourth week, I was in a good rhythm. I was hitting most of my free throws and my three-pointers were actually going in. I even managed to score over 20 points a few times. I was feeling pretty good about myself and my progress. I even started to enjoy the grind.
- Day 28: 27 points. Feeling strong. Three-pointers are improving.
- Day 35: 30 points. Hit my highest score so far!
- Day 42: 28 points. Consistent and steady.
- Day 49: 32 points. Another high score. I’m on a roll!
Week 8-10
Then, around the eighth week, I hit a bit of a plateau. I was still scoring around 20 points a day, but I wasn’t seeing any big improvements. I started to doubt myself and my goal. But I didn’t give up. I pushed myself harder, spent more time on the court, and even watched some videos of pro players to get some tips.
- Day 56: 25 points. Plateauing a bit, need to push harder.
- Day 63: 29 points. Back on track. Feeling motivated again.
- Day 70: 35 points. I reached 1000 points earlier than I planned! I feel so good!
Finally, after ten weeks of sweat, misses, and a whole lot of determination, I hit my goal. I scored my 1000th point on a three-pointer, and it felt amazing. It was a tough journey, but I learned a lot about myself and what I’m capable of when I set my mind to something.
So, that’s my story. It’s not about being the best, but about setting a goal and sticking to it, no matter what. If I can do it, anyone can. Just remember to keep practicing, stay determined, and never give up on yourself.
