Okay, so yesterday I was messing around with Fjordur in Ark, trying to figure out where the heck all the resources are. You know how it is, you need metal, you need crystal, and you’re just flying around like a headless chicken.

First thing I did was fire up a new single-player game. Figured I could cheat a little and use admin commands to fly around and not worry about getting eaten by a Giga every five seconds. Spawned in a decent Argy, gave myself infinite stamina, and took off.
Metal: This was the big one. I really needed to find a good metal spawn. I started by checking the volcano area. I mean, it’s a volcano, right? Should be tons of metal. And yeah, there was some, but not as much as I was hoping for. It was scattered around, and a lot of it was on the steep slopes, making it a pain to mine with an Ankylosaurus. So, I kept searching.
Then I remembered seeing something online about a good metal spot in the Redwood forest. So, I headed over there, and bingo! Found a decent sized hill absolutely covered in metal nodes. It wasn’t the biggest motherlode ever, but it was a lot more convenient than the volcano, and safer too. Marked it on my map with a big ‘M’.
Crystal: Crystal was next. I really hate running out of crystal mid-craft. I remembered the snow biome having good crystal spawns in other maps, so I flew up north. Sure enough, there were some caves and mountain tops with decent crystal clusters. Nothing spectacular, but enough to get me by. I marked those spots with a ‘C’.
Obsidian: I always forget where to find obsidian. I remembered reading something about obsidian being near the lava caves in Fjordur. So I went to the lava cave entrance and started exploring the surrounding area. Found a decent amount of obsidian scattered around the rocks near the lava flow. Marked it with an ‘O’. Be careful though, that area is hot and has nasty creatures.

Oil: Finding oil can be a pain. I flew around the ocean looking for those oil nodes. Finally found a couple of clusters near the southern coast. Not a ton, but enough to keep the generators running. Marked it with an ‘Oil’ symbol on my map.
Wood and Thatch: I mean, these are everywhere, right? But I did find some particularly dense forests near the starting areas. Just grabbed my Hatchet and went to town. Don’t really need a map for this one, haha.
Silica Pearls: Okay, these are always annoying to find. I checked the shallow waters near the coast and found a few scattered around. Nothing amazing, but enough to pick up while I was flying around. Marked a few decent spots with ‘SP’ on the map.
Final Thoughts: Overall, Fjordur seems to have a decent distribution of resources. It took a little exploring, but I found enough to get started. Definitely recommend using a flyer and just scouting around. And don’t forget to mark your spots on the map! Makes life a whole lot easier.
Anyway, that’s how I mapped out the resources in my game. Hopefully, this helps some of you guys out! Happy surviving!
