Alright, let’s talk about this Miami Open thing, down at that Crandon Park. I heard folks callin’ it somethin’ fancy, like a “tournament,” but to me, it’s just a bunch of folks hittin’ a ball back and forth.
Now, they say this Miami Open is a big deal, happens every year, usually in March. This year, they say it’s from March 16th to 30th. They even talk about sellin’ tickets, like folks actually pay money to watch this! I guess some folks got nothin’ better to do with their time, huh? And they got all sorts of fancy words for the tickets too, “tournament ticket options” they call ‘em. Sounds like somethin’ a city slicker would say.
Crandon Park, that’s where it all happens. It ain’t just tennis courts neither. They got gardens, a place for boats, even a golf course. Seems like a lot of fuss for a little park, but hey, what do I know? Folks say it’s a nice place, with lots to do. Tourists and locals, they all go there, apparently. Guess they like watchin’ that ball-hittin’ or somethin’. They even got a “nature center” there. Wonder if they got any good eatin’ plants there.
They used to have it at this Crandon Park all the time, but then they moved it to some place called Hard Rock Stadium. Folks were makin’ a big stink about it, somethin’ about wantin’ it to be a “Fifth Grand Slam.” Sounded like a whole lotta fuss to me. They even had lawyers and court cases and whatnot. City folks and their problems, I tell ya.
I heard some folks talkin’ ‘bout seein’ this fella, Roger Federer, play there. Said he’s the best there ever was at hittin’ that ball. They said the tennis park is real nice. Everything inside is good, whatever that means. I guess it means it’s clean and fancy-like. They even got maps of the seats, “3D seatmaps” they call ‘em. Like you need a special map to find your chair! And they talk about the history of the Miami Open. History, ha! Like hittin’ a ball back and forth is history.
- They got all sorts of courts there too. Grass courts, red clay courts, green clay courts, and hard courts. Sounds like a whole lotta dirt and grass to me.
- And they got a bunch of courts, 26 they say. Guess that’s enough for all them folks who like watchin’ that ball-hittin’. They even say “play where the pros play”. Like that matters to most of us.
Anyways, they say it’s a big deal, this Miami Open. Folks come from all over to watch. And they talk about bringin’ big sunglasses and hats, like the sun’s gonna hurt ‘em or somethin’. City folks sure are sensitive.
So yeah, that’s the Miami Open at Crandon Park. Or sometimes at Hard Rock Stadium. A bunch of folks hittin’ a ball, and a whole lotta fuss about it. But hey, to each their own, I guess.
This year, it sounds like they moved it again. Back to the Hard Rock Stadium, they say. Don Shula Drive, that’s where it is. Guess they couldn’t make up their minds, huh? City folks, always changin’ things around.
So, if you like watchin’ folks hit a ball, I guess you can go down there to Crandon Park, or maybe to the Hard Rock Stadium. Just make sure you bring your big sunglasses and hat, so you don’t get all sunburned and whatnot. And don’t forget to bring your wallet, ‘cause them tickets ain’t free, I tell ya.
