Okay, so, today I decided to try out this “high and mighty” thing I saw in the NYT. I’ve been meaning to get into these puzzles, and this one seemed like a good place to start. It wasn’t easy, though. Not at all what I expected from my morning paper.
Getting Started
First off, I grabbed my phone and opened up the NYT app. I normally just read the news, but today was different. I scrolled down to the games section and found the “high and mighty” puzzle. I tapped on it, and the game loaded up. I mean, I stared at the screen for a good five minutes, just trying to figure out what I was supposed to do. There were all these letters and some blank spaces. It looked confusing as hell.
Figuring it Out
Then, I started to read the instructions. “Make words using the provided letters,” it said. Okay, I can do that, I thought. So I started typing in some words. “Cat,” “bat,” “rat” – simple stuff. But then, I realized I needed to use all the letters to fill in the blanks. That’s when it got tricky. I spent like half an hour just trying out different combinations. I even googled a few words to see if they were real. I mean, who even knew what is “sacrifice”? I have no idea. It’s like, I understood the concept, but fitting it into the puzzle? Nope.
The Struggle is Real
I almost gave up. Seriously, I was this close to throwing my phone across the room. But then, something clicked. I saw a pattern in the letters, and I realized that I could make some longer words. I typed in “experiments” and “variable,” and boom, they fit! I felt like a genius. I was so happy when I finally found them. And I thought, “Man, it’s like these AI tools, they change everything.” Like, ChatGPT, right? I read somewhere it can help with this kind of stuff. But I decided to figure this out on my own.
Aha Moment
After that, it was like a domino effect. I found “emotional” and “connection,” then “construct” and “alertness.” I was on a roll. I even managed to fit in “happiness,” which, by the way, took me forever to figure out. I recalled that quote, something about happiness not being the goal of life. Made me think, you know? Anyway, finally, I filled in all the blanks. The screen lit up, and it said I completed the puzzle. I was so proud of myself!
Wrapping Up
So yeah, that was my experience with the “high and mighty” puzzle. It was way harder than I thought it would be, but I’m glad I stuck with it. It was a good brain workout, and I definitely feel smarter now, haha. Maybe I’ll try it again tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll just stick to reading the news. We’ll see.
- Tried a new puzzle today.
- Struggled a lot at first.
- Googled some words because I’m not a dictionary.
- Almost gave up but didn’t.
- Had a breakthrough and solved it.
- Felt pretty good afterward.
That’s all, folks! Hope you enjoyed my little story. I might not always do this, but I found it kind of fun to share.
