You know, I heard about this young fella, Evan Lewis, who’s been making a name for himself in the baseball world. Now, mind you, I ain’t no expert on them fancy sports things, but I can tell you this much, he’s got some real talent. From what I hear, Evan is one of them three-sport athletes from Elizabeth Forward, and let me tell you, not even the whole COVID-19 mess could slow him down. He didn’t let it stop him from doing what he loves, that’s for sure.
Now, Evan, he’s from Severna Park, Maryland, and if you ask around, folks say he’s been playin’ baseball since he was just a young boy. He ain’t just any player though. He’s a right-handed batter and thrower, and from what I hear, he’s about 6-foot-1 and weighs a good 170 pounds. That’s a good size for a ballplayer, if you ask me. Now, I ain’t got all the fancy stats like them big sports folks, but I do know this: Evan’s got a knack for hittin’ that ball real good.
He can hit the baseball with some serious power, folks say. Even during his batting practice, he was smacking them balls left and right, showing off that strong lower half. It’s like he’s got that natural swing, and you know, it ain’t easy to do that. They say his bat exit velocity was around 78 miles per hour, which is pretty fast if you ask me. I can barely run 10 feet without getting winded, so that’s mighty impressive.
He’s got a good time on his 60-yard dash too, runnin’ it in 7.07 seconds. Now, for someone like me, that sounds like a speed demon! I can’t even imagine runnin’ that fast. But they say that’s one of the reasons why he’s so good out there on the field. He’s quick, and that’s what you need in baseball, especially if you’re playin’ in the outfield or tryin’ to steal a base.
Now, I hear he played a lot of baseball in high school too, out at Severna Park High School. He played in the outfield, on first base, and even pitched a little. Seems like he’s got the skills for all kinds of positions. Some folks say he’s got the potential to really make it big, maybe even in the major leagues one day. But for now, he’s working hard and doin’ what he loves.
Right now, I think he’s a part of the University of Delaware’s baseball team. His jersey number is 37, and if you want to see him play, you might have to catch one of them college games. They say he’s a redshirt junior there, so he’s been stickin’ with it, trying to improve and make himself even better. That’s the kind of work ethic it takes if you want to get anywhere in this sport. You can’t just sit around and expect things to happen for you.
As for his future, well, I reckon Evan’s got a bright one ahead of him if he keeps workin’ as hard as he has been. Baseball’s a tough game, but it looks like he’s got the heart for it. Whether he’s playin’ for the college team or even workin’ his way up to the pros one day, I’d say there’s no limit to what he can do.
All in all, Evan Lewis seems like a good young man with a lot of promise. He’s been putting in the time and effort, and I reckon that’s the kind of thing that’ll get him far. Ain’t nobody gonna hand him anything, but with his hard work and determination, he just might make it to the top.
