Alright, let’s gab a bit about this young fella, Donovan Edwards, and all this NFL draft talk. Folks keep jabberin’ on about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know?
So, who is this Donovan Edwards fella?
Well, from what I gather, he’s one of them fancy football players from the University of Michigan. Them Wolverines, they call ‘em. Heard they’re pretty good. This boy, Donovan, he’s a runnin’ back. Means he carries the ball, tries not to get tackled, and gets it into that end zone thingy. Sounds simple enough, right? But these fellas make a big fuss outta it.
- He was a real big deal recruit, a “five-star” they say. Means he was real good in high school, I reckon.
- He ain’t played a whole ton, but when he does, he’s like greased lightnin’! Fast as a scalded dog, that one.
Now, they had a whole bunch of players get drafted this year, 2024. Thirteen of ‘em! Heard their quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, went first. Good for him, I guess. But Donovan, he stayed put. Didn’t go into the draft. Said he’s gonna stay at Michigan for another year.
Why’d he stay, ya ask?
Well, I ain’t him, so I can’t rightly say for sure. But I heard tell that another runnin’ back fella, Blake Corum, he left for the NFL. So maybe Donovan figures he’ll get to play more now. Be the main man, so to speak. And that makes sense, don’t it? Why go sit on the bench somewhere else when you can be the star right where you are?
Is he good enough for the NFL?
Shoot, from what folks say, he’s plenty good enough. Like I said, he’s fast. And he’s got talent, they say. “Immense talent,” them fancy sportswriters call it. Sounds impressive, right? He had himself a game in the National Championship, even though they lost. Folks remember that kinda thing.
But here’s the thing about the NFL. It’s a tough business. Lots of fellas are good in college, but they don’t make it in the big leagues. Gotta be tough, gotta be smart, gotta stay healthy. And you gotta have a little luck, too. It ain’t all about talent, ya know?
So, when will he get drafted?
Well, since he didn’t go this year, folks are already lookin’ ahead to next year, 2025. They’re sayin’ he’ll be one of the top runnin’ backs in the draft. Maybe even a first-rounder, whatever that means. Sounds important, though. But a lot can happen in a year. He could get hurt. He could have a bad season. Or he could just decide he don’t wanna play no more. You never know with these young fellas.
What do I think?
Well, I think he’s a good kid. At least, that’s what they say on the TV. And he’s got a good head on his shoulders, stayin’ in school and all. Smart move, if you ask me. Get that education, boy! Football don’t last forever.
And he’s got the talent, that’s for sure. I’ve seen him run. He’s like a blur! But like I said, talent ain’t everything. He’s gotta work hard, stay outta trouble, and stay healthy. If he does all that, he’ll have a good shot at makin’ it in the NFL. And if he don’t, well, he’ll still have that degree to fall back on.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this Donovan Edwards fella. He’s a good player, and he’s got a bright future. But the NFL is a tough business, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, I’ll be watchin’ them Wolverines and cheerin’ him on. Go Blue!
Now, don’t go quotin’ me on any of this. I’m just an old woman who likes watchin’ a bit of football now and then. But I know what I see, and I see a good player in that Donovan Edwards. He just needs to keep his nose clean and keep workin’ hard. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll be the next big thing in the NFL.
But even if he ain’t, he’ll be alright. He’s a good kid, and he’ll figure things out. That’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? Figuring things out, one day at a time.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about that. I gotta go make some supper now. Them grandkids will be here soon, hungry as bears, and I ain’t got time to sit around jawin’ about football all day. You take care now, ya hear?
