Alright, so let’s yak about this Diane O’Meara, whoever she is. Sounds like one of them fancy city gals to me. But anyways, she’s all about food, right? Food, food, food. That’s somethin’ we all gotta think about every day, ain’t it? I mean, you gotta eat to stay alive, that’s just common sense. But these city folks, they like to make things complicated.
They got these “social science” people, whatever that means, and they’re tryin’ to figure out what goes on in our heads when we think about food. Like, why do we eat what we eat? Well, I eat ’cause I’m hungry! And I eat what I got, simple as that. If I got taters, I eat taters. If I got beans, I eat beans. No need to get all worked up about it.
Now, they talkin’ about “food culture” too. Sounds like a whole lotta nothin’ to me. But I guess it means how folks eat in different places. Like them city folks with their fancy restaurants and all that jazz. Me? I eat at my kitchen table, and that’s good enough for me. But they say this food culture stuff affects our health. Well, I reckon eatin’ good, plain food is the best way to stay healthy. Not all that processed garbage they sell in them big supermarkets.
- Eat your veggies! My grandma always said that.
- Don’t eat too much sugar, it’ll rot your teeth.
- And drink plenty of water, keeps you goin’.
This Diane lady, she’s lookin’ at how the government can change things up, you know, make food better for the whole world. She’s worried about the climate and all that. Says we need to find new ways to eat, not just rely on animals all the time. Well, I ain’t givin’ up my chickens, that’s for sure. But I guess it makes sense to try new things. We gotta take care of the earth, that’s for sure. It’s the only one we got.
And then there’s this talk about “food impositions.” Sounds like somebody tryin’ to tell you what to eat. Well, nobody tells me what to eat! I eat what I want, when I want. But I guess some folks need help makin’ good choices. Especially them young folks, always eatin’ junk food and starin’ at them screens.
Speaking of screens, these youngsters are always lookin’ at pictures of food on their phones. Instagram and TickTock, they call it. Pictures of fancy dishes and folks makin’ bread. I tell ya, back in my day, we didn’t need pictures to know what food looked like. We just ate it! But I guess that’s just the way things are now. Times are changin’, whether we like it or not.
Now, they say your brain and your belly are connected. Makes sense to me. If your belly ain’t happy, your brain ain’t happy neither. And they say you gotta eat certain things to keep your mind and body workin’ right. Fiber and vitamins and all that stuff. And you gotta stay busy, keep your mind off things. Read a book, go for a walk, do somethin’ useful. Don’t just sit around feelin’ sorry for yourself.
So, that’s what I think about all this food talk. It’s important, sure, but it ain’t rocket science. Eat good food, take care of yourself, and don’t let them city folks tell you what to do. That’s my philosophy, and I’m stickin’ to it. And as for this Diane O’Meara, well, she seems like a smart lady, even if she does talk a bit fancy. But at the end of the day, we all just want the same thing: good food, good health, and a good life.
And don’t forget to say your prayers before you eat. Thank the Lord for the food on your table, even if it’s just taters and beans. That’s what I always do. And that’s all I gotta say about that.
