Alright, so today I ran into this super annoying bug in Cyberpunk 2077. It’s the “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” quest, and it kept getting stuck. Here’s the whole messy story of how I finally got around it.
The Problem Started Like This…
I got to the point where I was supposed to talk to Bill. You know, the guy at the hotdog stand? Well, every time I tried to talk to him, nothing. He just stood there like a lemon, completely ignoring me. No dialogue options, no nothing. I was completely stuck.
My First (Failed) Attempts…
- First, I tried reloading a previous save. Several times. No dice.
- Then I thought, “Maybe it’s a time-of-day thing?” So I skipped time forward, came back… still nothing. Bill’s still a statue.
- I even tried shooting around the place to maybe “wake him up.” Yeah, I was getting desperate. Didn’t work, obviously. Just attracted a bunch of cops.
Digging Deeper…
So, I hit the internet. I figured I couldn’t be the only one with this problem. And I was right! I found a bunch of forum posts and Reddit threads with people complaining about the exact same thing.
Turns out, it’s a pretty common bug. Some folks said it had something to do with a previous quest, “I Fought the Law,” and some choices you make there. I did that quest ages ago, so I couldn’t remember exactly what I did.
The Solution (That Finally Worked!)…
After a lot of reading, I found a workaround that seemed to work for most people. It’s a bit weird, but hey, it got the job done.
- 1.I fast traveled away from the *, really far away.
- *,I skipped time for at least 24 in-game hours.
- 3.I saved the game. This is important! Create a new, manual save.
- 4.I completely quit the game. Not just to the main menu, but I closed the whole application.
- 5.I restarted the game and loaded that fresh save I just made.
- 6.I went back to Bill’s hotdog stand.
And… it worked! Finally, the dialogue option appeared, and I could continue the quest. What a pain in the butt, but at least it’s sorted now.
Hopefully, this helps someone else out there who’s pulling their hair out over this bug. It’s a good quest, but this glitch is a real mood killer. Good luck, and happy gaming!
