Okay, here’s my take on that Canelo Alvarez fight – a breakdown from my perspective, like I’m just shooting the breeze with you about what I saw and did.

Alright, so, the big fight: Canelo vs. Bivol. I remember when it got announced, I was like, “Okay, Canelo moving up again, huh? Bold move.” I’ve always been a casual fan, but Canelo’s fights are always events, you know? I usually just watch at home with some buddies, crack open a few beers, and yell at the TV.
Leading up to the fight, I didn’t do a crazy amount of research, I’m not gonna lie. I checked out some highlight reels of Bivol. He looked solid, technically sound, but I was still leaning towards Canelo. The guy’s just a force of nature, right? I mean, the power, the combinations… it’s hard to bet against that.
Fight night rolls around, and we’re all set up at my place. Pizza, wings, the whole nine yards. The undercard was alright, nothing too spectacular, but the energy was building. Then, Canelo walks out, looking like a million bucks, the crowd goes wild. You could feel the tension in the air, even through the TV.
The first few rounds, Canelo was doing his thing, trying to walk Bivol down, landing some decent shots to the body. But Bivol, man, he was composed. His jab was sharp, and he kept his distance really well. I started to get a little worried around the fourth or fifth round. Bivol wasn’t backing down, and Canelo’s power shots weren’t having the same impact as usual.
Then, the middle rounds… that’s when Bivol really started to take over. He just kept pumping that jab, keeping Canelo at bay, and landing clean combinations. Canelo looked a little tired, his face was getting marked up, and he wasn’t throwing as many punches. I remember thinking, “Damn, is Canelo gonna lose this?”

The later rounds were pretty much more of the same. Bivol stayed disciplined, stuck to his game plan, and outboxed Canelo. Canelo tried to rally, but he just couldn’t find that knockout punch. By the time the final bell rang, it was pretty clear who had won.
The judges’ scorecards came in, and it was unanimous: Bivol by decision. My jaw dropped. I mean, I knew it was a close fight, but I honestly didn’t think Canelo would lose. My buddies and I were just sitting there in stunned silence for a few minutes.
After the fight, we started dissecting everything. Was Canelo too small? Did he underestimate Bivol? Was it just a bad night? Whatever the reason, it was a huge upset. It just goes to show you, anything can happen in boxing. It was a great fight, even though my guy lost. Looking forward to see what Canelo does next.
I actually re-watched some of Bivol’s earlier fights, and I can see now that he’s been consistently good. Maybe I should have done my research before making any predictions.
Anyway, that’s my two cents on the fight. What did you guys think?
