Well now, let me tell y’all about this fella, Freddie Freeman, and his big ol’ contract with them Los Angeles Dodgers. I ain’t much for them big city teams, but it seems like Freddie done got himself quite a deal. You see, in 2022, he made the jump from them Braves, where he’d been playing for 11 years, to them Dodgers. And let me tell ya, it wasn’t a small move by no means. The Dodgers signed him up for a 6-year contract, worth $162 million! Now that’s a whole lot of money, if you ask me, though I reckon it’s not quite like what we’d get back home in the country.

Freddie Freemans $162 Million Dodgers Contract: Full Breakdown and Details

Freddie’s deal with them Dodgers gives him an annual salary of $27 million. That’s more than what a lot of folks in this world will see in a lifetime! His contract’s real fancy-like, with some of it deferred, meaning they ain’t payin’ him all of it upfront. Some $57 million, to be exact, will be pushed off into the years between 2028 and 2040. I reckon that’s a good way to make sure he don’t run outta money too quick, though I doubt he’d ever be wantin’ for food or shelter, that’s for sure.

Now, the thing about this whole contract business is, it’s got a bit more to it than just numbers on paper. Back when he was still with them Braves, things started fallin’ apart a bit. They were talkin’ with Freddie about a new deal, but somethin’ didn’t quite sit right. The Braves decided they wanted to go in a different direction, so they went and signed up Matt Olson from them Oakland Athletics. I reckon that opened the door for the Dodgers to come a-knockin’, and Freddie, well, he hopped on board real quick.

It didn’t help none that Freddie’s agent, this feller named Casey Close, never told Freddie about the Braves’ final offer. That sure stirred the pot, didn’t it? The Braves got their new guy, and the Dodgers got themselves a star first baseman, all thanks to them little missteps.

Now, if you look at the numbers real close, you’ll see that Freddie’s contract don’t just add up to $162 million. When you factor in the deferrals, it drops down a bit, to around $148 million. That’s still a mighty big chunk of change, and he’ll be seein’ a hefty sum each year. Even with them deferrals, it’s still one of them top contracts in baseball, especially for a first baseman. He sure earned it with them solid years in Atlanta.

For them that don’t know, Freddie Freeman’s been a mainstay for the Braves, playin’ solid ball since 2011. He brought home a lot of wins for ’em, and helped them take the World Series title in 2021. So, I reckon it was a hard decision for both Freddie and the Braves, but sometimes business don’t go the way you want it to, and you just gotta take what comes your way. And for Freddie, that way led straight to LA and a big ol’ payday!

Freddie Freemans $162 Million Dodgers Contract: Full Breakdown and Details

So now, with them Dodgers, Freddie’s livin’ a good life, and he’s one of the highest-paid players in the game. A six-year deal, worth $162 million – now that’ll make anybody’s eyes pop open. That’s the kind of money most folks around here will never see, but it sure makes for an interestin’ story. You just gotta hope that all that money don’t go to his head, and that he keeps hittin’ those home runs like he used to for the Braves.

Freddie Freeman’s journey from Atlanta to Los Angeles sure is somethin’. And with this big contract, it’s clear he’s gonna be around for a while, playin’ some mighty fine ball for them Dodgers. Whether he’s hittin’ home runs or playin’ first base, he’s sure to keep bringin’ in the big bucks for years to come. And with $57 million deferred till later years, I reckon he’ll have a pretty nice nest egg saved up for when he’s done with baseball.

  • Freddie Freeman signed a 6-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in March 2022.
  • His salary is $27 million annually, with $57 million deferred until 2028-2040.
  • The Braves traded for Matt Olson and didn’t make Freddie Freeman their final offer, leading to his move to the Dodgers.
  • Freddie Freeman’s contract is structured to be worth about $148 million after deferrals.
  • Freddie’s time with the Braves and his World Series win in 2021 helped him earn this big contract.
