Well now, lemme tell ya a thing or two ’bout them Bucks, I reckon. They’re a basketball team from over in Milwaukee, that’s in Wisconsin, ya know, up north somewhere. These boys, they play in the NBA, which is that big ol’ basketball league, and they’re part of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. I don’t know much about fancy words and stuff, but I can tell ya this much: the Bucks, they been playin’ for a long time and they’ve had plenty of coaches along the way.
The team started way back in 1968, that’s when they got themselves together. But, hold on, it wasn’t till 1971 when they really made a name for themselves and won their very first championship. Now, that was somethin’. Their first coach, Larry Costello, was the one who helped ‘em get that victory. If ya ask me, that man sure knew his way around basketball. He set the stage for the rest of ‘em.
Now, I don’t know all the names and dates, but I do know that the Bucks been through a lot of coaches. After Costello, came Don Nelson in 1976. He was there for a good while, up until 1987. That man was around long enough to see the team grow, I tell ya. Then, there was Terry Porter, but he didn’t last long. Just a couple of seasons, and then they got themselves Scott Skiles from 2008 to 2013. Skiles, he was a good coach, but, well, things didn’t always work out as planned.
Then came Jason Kidd in 2014. Now, Kidd, he was a real famous player back in the day. He came in as coach and stayed with the team till 2018. Kidd sure did his best to turn things around. But after him, the Bucks got Mike Budenholzer, and folks said he was the one to finally get ‘em over the top.
Budenholzer, he was the one who took ‘em all the way to the championship in 2021. That was a big ol’ deal, ‘cause the Bucks hadn’t won it all in a long time. They hadn’t won the championship since that first one back in ’71! Budenholzer made a real difference, and folks sure did love him for that. But, ya know, not all things last forever. Come 2023, he wasn’t the head coach no more.
Now, I gotta tell ya, just last year, ol’ Adrian Griffin came on as coach, but it didn’t take long for them to fire him. Just 43 games, and that was it! Don’t know all the details, but folks in Milwaukee sure weren’t happy about it. They needed someone new, and they got Doc Rivers to step in. Yep, that’s right, Doc Rivers is the new coach for the Bucks as of 2024. Now, I don’t know much about him, but I reckon he knows his stuff. He’s been around the league a long time, and he’s coached a bunch of teams before. I reckon the Bucks are hopin’ he’ll get ‘em back on track and maybe even bring home another championship or two!
As for the rest of the coaching staff, well, it looks like they been busy too. In July of 2024, the Bucks brought on Darvin Ham and Greg Buckner to help Doc Rivers out. And don’t forget, they kept Dave Joerger around as well. Ain’t no doubt about it, the Bucks got themselves a team of coaches, that’s for sure. They’re workin’ hard to make sure this new season is a good one.
So, I reckon that’s about it. The Bucks sure been through a lot, and they ain’t shy of changin’ coaches when they need to. But one thing’s for sure: they got a lotta folks watchin’ to see what ol’ Doc Rivers and his crew can do with this team. Might just be a championship in the cards again, who knows?
