Okay, so this phrase popped into my head the other day – “dream fat kid”. Don’t ask me where it came from, just one of those weird brain things, you know?

Anyway, it stuck with me. So I figured, why not mess around with it? See what happens. I’ve been playing with some of those AI image generators lately, just for kicks. Seemed like a good candidate for some weird digital art.
My Process with the AI
So, I fired up one of the tools I use sometimes. It’s a pretty basic one, nothing fancy.
First step was just typing the exact phrase in: “dream fat kid”. Simple enough, right?
Then I hit generate and waited. You know how it is, sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes longer. This time it was pretty quick.
The results? Man, they were… interesting. Not really what I expected, but then again, I didn’t really know what to expect. Here’s kinda what I got:
- A few images were just blurry messes. Like, abstract colors that didn’t look like anything.
- One looked like a kid, sort of, but distorted. Like viewing through water, and yeah, maybe a bit chubby, but mostly just weird.
- Another one was just plain creepy. Big eyes, strange background. Definitely not the ‘dream’ part I was thinking of, more like a nightmare.
Clearly, just the phrase wasn’t enough. These AI things need more direction, I guess. They don’t really ‘get’ nuance.
So, I started tweaking the prompt. Tried stuff like:
- “happy fat kid having a pleasant dream”
- “illustration of a chubby child dreaming of toys”
- “surreal painting, dream fat kid, colorful”
Spent maybe half an hour doing this. Generating, looking, tweaking, generating again. It’s a bit like fishing, you cast the line and hope you catch something good.
What Came Out in the End
Got slightly better results with the more descriptive prompts. Some images were closer to a recognizable ‘kid’ and ‘dream’ theme. Saw some clouds, some toys, that sort of thing. But still, nothing really clicked. Nothing felt like that initial weird phrase.
Most of the kids still looked a bit off, proportions weird, or the ‘dream’ part was just generic floating shapes. And yeah, the ‘fat’ part often got exaggerated in strange ways by the AI.
Eventually, I just stopped. Decided it wasn’t really leading anywhere interesting. The AI couldn’t capture the weird vibe of the original phrase, and maybe I couldn’t either. It was just a random thought, and trying to force it into a picture didn’t really work out.
So yeah, that was my little experiment trying to visualize “dream fat kid”. Didn’t get a masterpiece, just spent some time poking at an AI. Sometimes the process is more interesting than the result, I guess. Or maybe sometimes it’s just… a process. And that’s it.
