Okay, so I’ve been meaning to dig into the 49ers’ playoff history for a while now. I’m a huge fan, and I always hear people talking about the glory days, the not-so-glory days, and everything in between. I figured it was time I got the full picture myself. So, I started this little project.

Getting Started
First, I hit up the internet, obviously. I needed a good source of information, somewhere that listed all the games, the scores, the opponents, everything. I found a few sites that seemed pretty reliable, with year-by-year breakdowns of the 49ers’ regular season and playoff performances.
Organizing the Data
Then came the fun part…well, maybe not “fun,” but definitely necessary. I decided to organize everything in a spreadsheet. It seemed like the best way to keep track of all the data. I created columns for the year, the opponent, the result (win or loss), the score, and any extra notes, like if it was a Super Bowl or NFC Championship game.
- Year: Pretty self-explanatory.
- Opponent: Who the 49ers played.
- Result: Win or Loss.
- Score: The final score of the game.
- Notes: Anything special, like Super Bowl appearance.
The Deep Dive into 49ers playoff history
Next, I went through each year, one by one, and started plugging in the information. It was actually pretty cool to see it all laid out like that. I could see the patterns, the winning streaks, the heartbreaking losses…it was all there. I spent a good few hours on this, making sure I didn’t miss anything.
Review and Reflect
Finally, I looked over the whole thing, top to bottom. I even double-checked some of the scores and opponents, just to be sure. It’s a pretty awesome feeling to have this complete record of the 49ers’ playoff history right in front of me. Now, I can really hold my own in any conversation about the team’s past performance. I’ve done it all now!
