Okay, so I’ve been trying to increase my vertical, you know, jump higher like Anthony Edwards. I saw some videos and tips online, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It’s been a real grind, but I’m starting to see some progress. Let me tell you about it.
First off, I started hitting the gym more regularly. I figured I needed to build up some strength in my legs. I started with full-range back squats. Man, those are tough! I remember the first time I tried them, I could barely get back up. But I kept at it, adding a little more weight each time. It’s like they always say, “no pain, no gain,” right?
- Dumbbell Squat Jumps
Next, I added in some rhythm dumbbell squat jumps. I grabbed some heavy dumbbells, not too heavy to start, and did these jump squats. It felt weird at first, trying to get a rhythm going, but it really works those explosive muscles. I did sets of these, resting in between, trying to get a good flow.
- Plyometric Exercises
Then there are these plyometric exercises I’ve been doing. They’re all about explosive movements. I started with high object touches. Basically, I found a high spot and tried to touch it with each jump. It’s harder than it sounds! I also did some bounding and sprints. These were killer! Sprinting as fast as I can, then bounding like a crazy person, really gets the heart pumping.
- Strength Training and Arm Swing
Besides the exercises, I realized it’s not just about the legs. I worked on my arm swing too. It’s crazy how much that helps! Swinging my arms up when I jump really adds to the height. I felt like I was using my whole body to get up in the air. A strong base is key, as someone said, and I could really feel that.

I also focused on strength training, especially for my core. A strong core is super important for balance and power. I did a bunch of core exercises, like planks and those twisting things. It’s all connected, you know? Your legs, your core, your arms – they all work together to get you off the ground.
It’s been a journey, I tell ya. I’m not jumping like Anthony Edwards yet, but I can definitely feel the difference. I’m getting higher, and it feels awesome. It’s all about putting in the work and being consistent. If I can do it, anyone can. Just gotta keep pushing, keep jumping, and keep believing you can fly!
