Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this fella, Nic Saban. Don’t know much about fancy football myself, but from what I hear, this guy was a big deal. Like, a real big deal.
Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout how he ain’t coachin’ no more, somethin’ ‘bout SEC sidelines and fall Saturdays. Guess he hung up his hat, or whatever them coaches do. But he sure made a mark, they say. Like, carvin’ his name in some history book, they tell me. College football, somethin’ like that.
Now, they say he was smart, real smart. Strategic brilliance, they call it. Sounded like he knew his stuff, that’s for sure. And he won. A lot. Like, more than most folks, seems like. They call it “unparalleled success”. Big words for sayin’ he was good, real good.
- He was at the top spot, number one, for a long time. They got this poll thing, the Associated Press, and he was up there more than anyone else. Coached the most games as number one, they said. Ninety-eight of ‘em! That’s a heap of games, even for someone who don’t know nothin’ about football.
- And when he played against the other good teams, the top five, they say he beat ‘em more than anyone. Thirty wins out of forty-five games. That’s more wins than losses, even I can figure that out. And the best winnin’ percentage too, somethin’ called point six six seven. Sounds fancy, but I guess it means he was the best.
Now, this fella, Saban, he had a way of thinkin’, they say. “Be where your feet are,” he’d tell his players. Don’t go dreamin’ about the future or worryin’ ‘bout the past. Just focus on what you’re doin’ right now. Give it your all, every time. Makes sense, even for plantin’ corn or milkin’ cows. You gotta be present, be in the moment, or you’ll mess things up.
And that’s how they practiced too. Every practice, every game, it was about pushin’ themselves, doin’ better than before. No slacking off, no takin’ it easy. Work hard, that was his way. Just like farmin’, you can’t expect a good harvest if you don’t put in the work.
And the winnin’, oh lord, the winnin’. They say he won seven national championships. Seven! That’s more championships than most folks even dream of. That’s a whole lotta winnin’, no matter how you look at it. Guess that’s why they call him a legend. A coachin’ legend, that is.
So, yeah, this Nic Saban fella, he was somethin’ special. Don’t understand all the fuss about football, but even I can see he made a difference. He worked hard, he won big, and he left his mark. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, no matter what you do in life.
Now, I’ve said my piece. Time to get back to my own work. Football’s fine and dandy, but it don’t put food on the table, does it? Gotta keep busy, gotta keep goin’. That’s the real secret to success, whether you’re coachin’ football or just tryin’ to make a livin’.
