Okay, so the other day I was digging through some old boxes and came across a bunch of my old college stuff. You know, textbooks, notes, and a whole lot of stuff about the Oklahoma Sooners. It really took me back, especially since I found some stuff about the 1987 team. So, I decided to dive deep into the ’87 Sooners.
First, I grabbed my laptop and started looking around online. I mainly wanted to refresh my memory and see what I could find about that specific year. I hit up some old news articles and team history sites.
Found some interesting tidbits, like how the Sooners were ranked number one for nine weeks that year. Man, they were crushing it! I also stumbled upon some stats about their ground game. Apparently, they were way better running the ball than passing it. Makes sense, it was the ’80s after all.
- Top-ranked for nine weeks!
- Seriously powerful running game.
- The team under coach Barry Switzer.
Then I remembered I had some old game notes from back in the day. Dug those out and started flipping through them. It was a trip, seeing my old handwriting and reliving those games. Noticed that even when they messed up, like turning the ball over four times in one game, they still managed to pull off wins. They were just that good.
I also checked out some stuff about Barry Switzer, the coach back then. Turns out, he took over in ’73 and was a legend. Three national championships under his belt! No wonder the ’87 team was so dominant. It’s amazing what a good coach can do, right?
Realizing
After spending a few hours down memory lane, I just had to share this with someone. So, here I am, writing it all down. It’s crazy how a little trip to the past can get you all fired up about the good old days. That ’87 Sooners team was something else, and it was awesome to remember just how good they were. It really got me thinking about how sports can create such lasting memories and how much a part of my life the Sooners have been.
